Dystopic Poetry

Late into my research and writing of the poems about the effects of climate change in Illinois in my next collection, The Weather in Normal (Seren, 2018), I began writing poems in an imagined post-apocalyptic dystopia. They began as a series of 'future interludes'. A couple appeared recently in Shearsman, and another is featured today on Dusie, in the Tuesday series curated by rob mclennan. Unsurprisingly following Trump's election I came back to the idea of this community and began writing more poems
